Nestled along the Oregon coast between Cape Foulweather and Cape Kiwanda, a couple miles north of the little town of Neskowin, our small herd of Tibetan yak graze on the hillsides as the wind rustles through their shaggy hair. Our herd is growing and we are selling calves, fiber, and lean and healthy grass-fed yak meat. For more information about these fascinating animals and the health benefits of their meat, click on our Yaks page.
Why SiSu?
Sisu is a Finnish word that means fortitude, perseverance, and determination. We named our ranch Sisu because it takes much of this to realize your dreams! Sisu Ranch is that dream for us. We also used to live beside the beautiful Siletz River ('Si') and one of us is named 'Su'. We have since moved to the ocean, just north of the Siuslaw National Forest (just reverse the 3rd & 4th letters) and the Siletz word for ocean is "si~s-xu"! Just in case that is not enough, one of the first purchases we made as a new couple many, many years ago was an art print of a docked fishing vessel named Sisu. We have come a long way.
